Job Description
Job Title: Worcester Green Corps District Site Manager (Seasonal)
Reports to: Worcester Green Corps Coordinator
Goal: The Worcester Green Corps is a public-private partnership led by the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce (WRCC), the United Way of Central Massachusetts (UWCM), and the City of Worcester focused on cleaning, greening and beautifying Worcester while building meaningful educational and career pathways for Worcester’s young people. The District Site Manager will supervise approximately five city youthworks students that are hired through the Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) on beautification efforts, green jobs education and career pathways, as well as other green initiatives.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Train and supervise approximately five youthworks students.
- Identify litter hot spots around the city as well as locations for future cleanups.
- Schedule and oversee daily litter cleanups in conjunction with the coordinator.
- Help supervise and facilitate career pathway training sessions on Fridays which will include fieldtrips to facilities such as: Water Filtration Center, Upper Blackstone Water Treatment, Solar array, Mass Audubon, Greater Worcester Land Trust trails, Casella Waste Management, and we would address topics including: the City’s Green Worcester plan, Worcester’s green and blue spaces, recycling, urban farming, and more.
- Report both the measurements for success as well as the attendance of youthworks students to the coordinator every day.
- Build relationships with community members and inform them about the program as well as identified areas of concern that need attention.
- Organize time and location of trash bag pickups with Coordinator and Department of Public Works (DPW) weekly.
- Meet weekly with Coordinator to discuss any issues, concerns and/or suggestions you may have to help the process.
- Assists in the maintenance of lawns, parks and grounds; empties trash barrels, cleans litter and debris from grounds.
- Photograph and curate content for use on our social media platforms.
Education and Experience: At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma and experience with kids/teenagers.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill: Demonstrated ability to properly oversee YouthWorks students. Ability to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to interact in an effective manner with fellow employees and supervisors. Priority will be given to applicants who have access to a car.
Hours: Approximately 25-30/week
Rate: $18/hr
